JD moved to Charlotte looking for a fresh opportunity and began installing commercial safety flooring on September 12, 1999. What started as a new career quickly became a passion—not just for the trade itself, but for helping others build successful careers alongside him.
Starting as the fourth man on a crew, JD quickly worked his way to foreman through hard work, attention to detail, and an obsession with quality. During these early years, he learned that preparation, craftsmanship, and accountability would always determine the success of a flooring installation.
After becoming a certified installer, JD partnered with two others in a construction company. Although the partnership eventually ended because of different long-term visions, the experience reinforced the importance of shared values, leadership, and building a company focused on quality over shortcuts.
Determined to continue growing, JD worked with multiple crews across the Southeast, often working years without taking significant time off. During this time, he built lasting relationships with installers who shared his passion for craftsmanship—many of whom are still part of the JDV team today.
JD partnered with another company that combined commercial flooring with wall and ceiling spray technology. After nearly two decades in the field, he transitioned from installing floors himself to managing crews and operations across the country, gaining valuable experience leading large-scale commercial projects nationwide.
Following the end of that partnership during COVID, JD founded JDV Safety Flooring with a clear vision: create a company built around quality, accountability, and turnkey commercial flooring solutions.
Starting with just four installers, JDV has grown to nearly forty team members across eight traveling crews serving commercial clients nationwide.
Nearly three decades of experience have shaped every part of JDV’s installation process. Every lesson learned—from project planning and surface preparation to equipment coordination and waterproofing—has become part of the company’s commitment to delivering superior craftsmanship with no shortcuts, no excuses, and one point of accountability.
Today, JDV specializes in turnkey commercial flooring solutions for new construction, remodels, retrofit installations, and complex commercial environments, helping clients achieve maximum performance while minimizing downtime.
"Prep is the life support of a job."
One contractor. One process. One point of responsibility.
JDV's process wasn't created in a conference room. It was built over nearly 30 years of learning what works, what doesn't, and how to prevent problems before they happen.
One thing that really stood out is how often JD talks about his crews. He credits his success to building a loyal team of experienced foremen, many with more than 20 years in the industry. That's rare, and it's a major selling point.
